"We must look to the children as a vehicle for bringing change to humanity."

Hello, my name is Fiona & I want to tell you a little about myself. I’m from the Netherlands and received my bachelor's degree in elementary education there. In 1991, I was an exchange student in Michigan, and even though I returned to the Netherlands after my high school years, I visited America frequently. During one of these visits, I met my Husband and in 2003, I moved to America permanently. My husband and I lived in Dearborn, Michigan, but decided to move to beautiful Colorado. We have four amazing children–all teenagers now!

As a family, we love camping and hiking, visiting museums, and playing board games. I also love gardening and having friends over for coffee (that’s very Dutch!).

I have always loved working with children, and I feel especially privileged to work with children ages three through six. These years are critical in a child's development because at no other time will they learn more than during these years. This period is when a child develops a love for learning that will last a lifetime. And what better way to support these children than by the Montessori Method? I am a certified Montessori teacher, and I cannot tell you how devoted I am to creating the right environment with the right materials in the classroom, but even more so to live by Montessori's philosophy of helping children to be independent, capable, but most of all, kind human beings.
